Family Fun Since 1921
Camp High Sierra has been providing Family Camping since 1921. Located in the heart of Mammoth Lakes, this unique campground offers tent camping sites, trailer/RV sites with hook ups, rustic bunk style cabins, and free hot showers for all registered guests.
Central to the campground is the historic Recreational Day Lodge. For nearly 100 years, guests have gathered here to play board games, ping pong, hold carom competitions, or relax around the rock fire place with a good book.
Camp High Sierra is a convenient basecamp for all your favorite Mammoth activities and the perfect place to reconnect with your family in a beautiful, rustic setting.
All camp sites include a fire pit, barbecue, picnic table and a bear box.
Check-in time is 1:00 pm and Check-out time is 11:00 am. The Check-in area is located at the Front Desk inside the Recreational Day Lodge. Here you can also purchase firewood and other sundries including bug spray and sun screen.
Front Desk is open from 8:30 am - 5 pm.
Camp “Quiet Time” hours are from 10 pm - 7:00 am.
Campsites with electrical hook ups allow 15 amps of electricity per campsite and have access to water. Please bring your own extension cords and garden hoses.
Camp High Sierra has one central dump station available to all guests of the campground.
Maximum trailer/RV length is 32 feet.
Generator use is allowed in camp from 8am to 8pm.
Guests provide their own bedding in the cabins. Electricity is available in the cabins suitable to charge phones or other devices. Please - no cooking appliances in the cabins.
Camp High Sierra has a variety of wild animals in and around the grounds, please keep your camp site clean and do not feed the bears.
Bear boxes are provided at all camp sites. Please store all food, cosmetics, and coolers in a bear box or a closed vehicle and out of site (bears know just what to look for!).
Please keep campfires small and low.
- From Los Angeles, travel north on I-5 (Golden State Fwy.) to Hwy. 14 (Palmdale/Lancaster exit). Continue north on Hwy. 14 all the way through the town of Mojave.
- Bear to the right out of Mojave, and continue on 14 until it connects with Hwy 395, about 50 miles north of Mojave. Continue on 395 through Bishop (toward Reno), and exit at the Mammoth Lakes turnoff (Hwy. 203), and continue through Mammoth.
- Proceed through town past the third signal (Canyon Drive). Continue on Lake Mary Road, to Kelly Road, turn Left. Turn Right on Majestic Pines Drive and turn Right on the Camp’s dirt road, located between the first two houses past the intersection.
- The Camp High Sierra sign is set back off the road. Turn left into the campground. The camp phone number is (760) 934-2368 (summer only).
Details, Restrictions and Cancellation Policies
Payment in full is required at the time of booking, including 14% Town Occupancy Tax and TBID.
Cancellations made 14 days or more from day of arrival will receive a refund of payment, less a $50.00 Administrative Fee (or full deposit, whichever is greater).
Cancellations made less than two weeks before arrival will receive no refund. All requests for cancellation must be made by calling 800-MAMMOTH between 8am and 6pm. Booking online does not guarantee a single site for the length of your stay, you may be required to move sites. Please call 800.MAMMOTH to check specific site availability.
